The Orchardist magazine reports on the sweet rise of the Premier Star apple variety. Twelve years after it first appeared as a curious branch on a Royal Gala tree in a Nelson home orchard, Premier Star (PVR) has been successfully trialled under commercial conditions in Asian export markets this season.
With the apple harvest under way, Peter Watson from the Nelson Mail meets Hope couple, Greg & Stephanie Buck, who have more at stake than most.
Barbara Dunn of The Orchardist magazine writes about optimism for new early season apple discovery, Premier Star (PVR).

Delicious, sweet and healthy!

Premier Star (PVR) is an exciting new sweet and delicious apple variety - an excellent early season pipfruit replacement for the traditional Royal Gala.

With a high drymatter and high brix at harvest, this attractive and flavoursome apple is firm, crisp, of great size and texture. Best of all, it's grower and handling friendly.
